The ViaQuest Foundation Program Director To Receive The Southern Ohio Professional Golfers Association President’s Award
DEREK KINZER HONORED FOR HIS SUPPORT OF THE PGA “GROWTH OF THE GAME” INITIATIVES
Columbus, OH (October 24, 2007) – The ViaQuest Foundation Program Director, Derek Kinzer, will be awarded the Southern Ohio Professional Golfers Association (SOPGA) President’s Award at a special awards dinner on Sunday, October 28, 2007.
A brand new award added this year, the SOPGA President’s Award recognizes an SOPGA member who has made extraordinary contributions and achievements in conducting and/or supporting The PGA “growth of the game” initiatives.
Derek Kinzer, PGA professional and Director of The ViaQuest Foundation, is being recognized for his work with The ViaQuest Foundation Golf and Life Skills Program. Kinzer is very proud of the program, stating, “In just three years, we’ve provided over 2,300 participation hours of golf instruction to 79 adolescents with special needs. Two of these participants have gone on to win four gold medals in Special Olympics competition, and two individuals have obtained employment at a local golf facility. What a difference we can make in the lives of those who deserve it most!”
The ViaQuest Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, offers the Golf and Life Skills Program, as well as art, music and theater programs to enrich the lives of individuals facing intellectual, physical, emotional and behavioral challenges through recreational activities designed to enhance their life skills.
The ViaQuest Foundation Golf and Life Skills Program is supported by the “Growth of the Game” Grant program, The PGA of America’s commitment to partner with its PGA Professionals to grow participation in golf.
