The ViaQuest Foundation Hosts Fourth Annual Spring Prom For Teens With Behavioral Challenges & Developmental Disabilities
EVENING OUT ALLOWS TEENAGERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TO ENJOY ONE OF THE RITES OF SPRING
Columbus, OH (May 11, 2007) – The ViaQuest Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, hosted its fourth annual prom for teenagers with special needs this evening. The ViaQuest Foundation Prom provides teenagers, who otherwise might never be able to attend a prom, with an opportunity to enjoy an enriching evening out at a formal event. Proms are “a rite of spring” for teenagers everywhere.
The prom, held at the Columbus Developmental Center, is an annual event, open and free of charge to ViaQuest Behavioral Health and ViaQuest Foundation consumers and is also open to teenagers with special needs throughout Franklin County.
Prom attendees were served dinner at the event and FairyGoodMothers, a Columbus-based non-profit organization, provided personal shoppers and formal dresses free of charge. FairyGoodMothers is dedicated to promoting the confidence and self-esteem of junior and senior high school women.
“Once again, our fourth annual prom was a great success and exemplifies how this event promotes the ViaQuest Foundation’s mission to serve individuals with special needs,” stated Derek Kinzer, Program Director for the ViaQuest Foundation. “It truly enhances their lives and allows them to develop life skills. Each year, we can’t wait to see the participants in formal dress with joy reflected in their faces.”
The ViaQuest Foundation was established to serve individuals with special needs, enriching the lives of individuals facing intellectual, physical, emotional and behavioral challenges. The annual ViaQuest Foundation Prom is sponsored by ViaQuest, Inc. and ViaQuest Behavioral Health.
